Time to give away more free stuff! For this giveaway we’re stepping back in time. We’re spotlighting vintage-inspired light fixtures from Schoolhouse Electric, makers known for their classic designs and carefully crafted glass shades.

We’ve long admired Schoolhouse Electric for their well-made pendants, sconces, shades and ceiling fixtures that channel multiple period styles while maintaining a timeless appeal. Many of their glass shades are hand-blown and hand-painted, giving each piece a subtly unique character that sets it apart from mass-produced lighting. Their catalog ranges from faithful vintage reproductions to updated takes that work well in modern homes.

We’ve even seen a few of their fixtures in person when we visited friends in Charlotte — the pendants over their kitchen island were a clear example of how these lights can anchor a room and create atmosphere. Whether you prefer a simple, utilitarian look or something with a bit more decorative flair, there’s usually a model that fits.

For this giveaway we’re offering one Otis 4 ceiling-mount fixture in satin nickel with a modern aqua shade — a stylish fixture with an estimated value of $162. The Otis line is known for clean lines, solid construction and attractive glass shades that diffuse light softly for a welcoming glow. Below is a close-up image of the exact fixture we’ll be giving away so you can see the finish and glass color up close.

How to enter: comment on this post with the words SCHOOL ME. For fun, include your favorite and/or least favorite subject from school — for example, “My favorite was definitely recess, but my least favorite had to be chemistry.” That extra detail helps keep entries lively and gives us something to smile about while we choose a winner.

Official entry rules: one entry per e-mail address. This giveaway is open to residents of the contiguous United States (the lower 48) only. Entries will be accepted through 8pm EST on Wednesday, Dec 10th. We will announce the winner later in the same week. Please make sure your comment follows the entry format so your entry can be counted.

We’re excited to see this fixture installed in one of your homes — and yes, we’ll be asking for pictures if you win. A Schoolhouse Electric piece can be a subtle focal point or a finishing touch that ties a room together, whether installed in a kitchen, hallway, bathroom or entryway. The satin nickel finish and aqua shade combine to suit both neutral and colorful interiors.
