Step Inside Our New Home: Full Video Tour

[ad_1]

It’s hard to believe a full month has passed since move-in day, and we’re a little embarrassed that we haven’t shared a video tour of the house until now. Consider this our virtual nudge—or a friendly noogie, if you prefer old-school discipline. We’ll draw the line at anything too painful, though; no injuries on our watch.

After the chaos of unpacking and a nonstop stream of small projects—making lists, painting the nursery, frosting a door, removing a bi-fold, ordering a duvet, assembling a bed, hunting for a washer and dryer, taking down a shelf, arranging the built-in bookcases, painting those bookcases, and dealing with a surprising number of mirrors in some very peculiar spots—we finally stopped long enough to make a short walkthrough. We also decorated and dismantled the Christmas tree, and the washer and dryer we ordered have finally arrived, so there are more updates coming on that front.

We kept the video short because talking through every half-finished project would take hours. The goal here is to give a clear sense of the layout and how rooms flow into one another. You’ll see angles we haven’t shared before—peeks into closets, views of the kitchen sink, and other small corners that help tell the story of the space as it exists right now.

When it comes to future plans—what we’ll change, how we’ll do it, and why—we like to take those decisions one step at a time so we don’t get overwhelmed. We tend to let ideas percolate and evolve, and that approach keeps the process enjoyable rather than stressful. Because of that, we hope you’ll enjoy this look around without firing off a barrage of specific “what are you doing with this?” or “are you going to keep/paint/replace that?” questions. We appreciate curiosity, but many choices are still up in the air, and we’d rather share decisions as they happen than speculate about every possible option.

For context, we included the rough floor plan we shared before moving in so you can cross-reference rooms and layout. Some rooms are labeled differently on that plan than they’re called in the video—what we currently use as a living room may be called the dining room on the diagram, for example. Those naming differences reflect how spaces are being used now versus how we hope to use them later as we make changes. We’ll be documenting the process and sharing updates as rooms transform over time.

If you’re the kind of person who loves to compare plans and photos, there’s value in checking the layout while you watch the tour. For everyone else, the video and the plan together simply offer a fuller picture of the home’s flow and potential. We find that seeing both helps explain why certain decisions feel right in the moment, even if we later change our minds as projects evolve.

We also want to apologize for the shakiness in the clip. This was an informal, fast tour and we weren’t aiming for a polished production—so expect some spinning and shaky camera moves. We hope nobody feels too queasy from the motion; if you did, at least it was virtual and required no cleanup. When we’re farther along with the renovations and decor, we’ll film a more formal tour with steadier footage and a clearer narrative of what we did and why.

Thanks for following along as we settle in. We’ll continue to post updates as projects reach completion and share the decisions, mistakes, and surprises we encounter along the way. In the meantime, enjoy this first look at the house one month in.
