Kitchen Cabinet Installation Update: Cabinets, Crown Molding, and Progress
Our new kitchen cabinets are finally in place, and the transformation is already dramatic. The installer finished almost everything today, leaving only one reversed corner cabinet to be reordered. He also still needs to add the baseboard once that cabinet arrives, but for now the space reads like a different room entirely. With the microwave hung, all cabinet doors installed, brushed nickel hardware in place, and crown molding added, the new kitchen feels polished and intentionally designed.
The crown molding in particular made a big visual difference. It pulled the whole installation together and added a refined finish along the top of the upper cabinets. That detail—often overlooked in quick renovations—really elevates the look and creates a cohesive, high-end feeling. The hardware and door fronts complement the molding, and together they set the tone for the rest of the space as we prepare for the countertops and final touches.
This view shows the kitchen from the doorway we widened into the living/dining area. Opening up that entry made the kitchen feel larger and more connected to the rest of the home, improving flow and sightlines. Natural light now moves through more easily, and the overall layout reads as intentionally open and welcoming.

On the right side of the kitchen there’s a lovely glass-front corner cabinet that we’re especially excited about. That glass door keeps the corner feeling open and airier than solid cabinetry would, and it’s the perfect spot to display our nicer plates, glassware, and serving pieces. The visual break that glass provides prevents the row of cabinets from feeling heavy and makes the kitchen appear more elegant and curated.

You may notice the blue protective film still on the dishwasher and microwave—our appliances arrived with their factory protective covers intact. That blue film is common and will be removed once the final work is complete to reveal the stainless finish underneath. For now it’s a small reminder that the project is in a transitional phase: mostly finished but not yet fully detailed.
The only remaining wrinkle is that reversed corner cabinet that needed reordering. It’s scheduled to arrive by the 17th, which will allow us to install the last baseboard and proceed with countertop templating and installation. Until that cabinet is in place we can’t finalize the counters, so we’re counting down the days and hoping the delivery stays on schedule. While waiting for that single piece can be frustrating, everything that’s already installed gives us confidence the finished kitchen will be worth the short delay.
Next steps after the reordered cabinet arrives include finishing the baseboard, completing countertop templates, and scheduling the countertop installation. Once the counters are set and appliances are fully connected, we’ll remove the protective films and add the finishing touches—lighting, cabinet styling, and any small trim work. We’re excited to see how the countertops and final details will complete the look the cabinets and crown molding have started.
Overall, the project is moving along smoothly. The progress so far makes it clear that thoughtful design choices—glass-front cabinetry, quality hardware, and crown molding—have paid off. We’re looking forward to the final phase and to sharing more photos once the countertops are in and the last cabinet arrives. Until then, we’ll be counting down the hours, minutes, and seconds until the 17th.
