Two weekends ago we stopped in Atlanta on our way to Savannah to house-crash Jeremy and Katie Bower’s charming home. While we were there we filmed a short decorating video for anyone who likes to see projects come together step by step. Enjoy the tour — and don’t miss our table-setting video at the end of this post.
The entry is a sweet, compact mudroom Katie created with a small ottoman and a few hooks. Since we’re no strangers to this setup, Burger immediately made himself comfortable the moment he scooted in the door.

Beyond the entryway is an elegant dining room filled with soft blues, white china, and a relaxed, beachy vibe. Katie is a master at finding deals, so many of the pieces she styled were thrifted or deeply discounted — everything looked perfectly considered without costing a fortune.

Next to the door leading to the kitchen sits a pretty hutch that caught my eye, but the kitchen beyond was calling me in.

This kitchen has serious curb appeal. Katie and Jeremy opened up walls, rewired, installed stock cabinetry, and even laid the floors themselves to transform a formerly closed-off space into an open, inviting room. From the range hood to the backsplash, most of the finishes were DIYed, and their workmanship impressed us at every turn.

Katie pays attention to the smallest details. Her open hutch displays white china with effortless charm, and even a simple dishtowel she sewed herself — complete with pom-poms — adds personality without spending much.

Removing a wall created a smooth flow to a cozy den with a tiled fireplace they installed themselves. Katie found a coffee table on Craigslist and transformed it with paint — a reminder of how a little DIY can go a long way.

White accessories and thrifted finds appear throughout the home, lending a cohesive, airy feel. I couldn’t help but admire a tiny ceramic bird — another affordable treasure that fits right into Katie’s neutral palette.

They widened the opening between the den and living room so the entire first floor feels open and connected. Decorative accents, like the white ceramic horse head on the coffee table, echo a playful, collected aesthetic that’s also practical.

Fresh pops of green in pillows and accessories brighten the rooms. One pillow was made from a Pottery Barn placemat Katie repurposed and filled with batting — a clever, budget-friendly move. She lives near outlet stores, which helps her snag great items at low prices.

Katie and Jeremy’s skill with renovations is clear in a guest bathroom Katie remodeled for less than $500. She used a wet saw and installed molding with only a little help — a strong example of what can be accomplished on a tight budget.

You may remember Katie’s dressing room from when we visited her closet. Instead of a single hanging bar, she has an entire third bedroom turned into a wardrobe and storage area, with the opposite side serving as a cozy guest space or reading nook.

Upstairs, they transformed a guest bath with moody khaki paint and a custom wood frame mounted around the original mirror. They distressed the boards with nails and chains before staining, creating a rustic, personalized finish.

Their bedroom and ensuite have a calm, familiar feel. Katie mentioned she modeled a curtained wall after an idea we shared, and it turned out to be a lovely interpretation that suits their space beautifully.

Finally, we left you with a short table-setting video we put together. We set five different tables in stages on camera, experimenting with Katie’s serving pieces and accessories. It took a few takes to get everything right, but we’re proud of the result and hope the walkthrough inspires you.
Notes about the video:
- We’re a bit awkward at first, but we relax as we go.
- Some settings are fuller than others — feel free to scale elements back or use a larger table if you add a leaf.
- We mix in playful banter and a few lighthearted moments that show the real, unpolished side of styling.
Thanks to Katie and Jeremy for welcoming us into their home and for letting us photograph and film their spaces. We hope this tour sparked ideas you can try in your own home. If you watched the video, tell us which table setting you liked best — we’d love to hear your favorite.
