Two weekends ago, on our way to Savannah, we stopped in Atlanta to house-crash Jeremy and Katie Bower’s lovely home. While we were there, we filmed a little decorating tour for anyone who loves seeing homes in action. Enjoy the tour, and be sure to watch our table-setting video at the end of this post.
Just inside the front door is a charming mini mudroom Katie created with a small ottoman and a few coat hooks. Since we’ve used a similar approach before, Burger immediately made himself at home and settled right in.

Beyond the entry is an elegant dining room full of soft blue accents, white china, and beach-inspired accessories. Katie is a master bargain hunter, so many of the pieces she styled were thrifted or scored on sale—proof that great design doesn’t require a big budget.

A chic hutch sits beside the door to the kitchen, but it was hard to linger because the kitchen itself is a real showstopper.

The couple opened up the floor plan by removing walls, learned to run electrical, installed cabinetry, and laid floors themselves to transform a closed kitchen into a bright, open space. From the range hood to the backsplash, much of the work was DIY, and their craftsmanship shows at every turn.

Katie is attentive to small details. Her open hutch displays white china beautifully, and she even sewed a simple white dishtowel with pom-pom trim. None of these touches cost much, but they add a polished, personal feel.

With a wall removed, the kitchen now flows into a cozy den with a fireplace they tiled themselves and a coffee table Katie found on Craigslist and refreshed with paint. The result is comfortable, approachable style with lots of personality.

Katie favors clean white accents throughout the house—thrifted candlesticks, DIY artwork, and small ceramic figures. Her finds feel cohesive and thoughtfully edited rather than matchy-matchy.

They widened the passage between the den and living room to create an open first floor. Decorative touches like a white ceramic horse head add charm and a touch of whimsy to the space.

Pops of green appear in pillows and accessories; Katie even repurposed a Pottery Barn placemat into a pillow insert. Living near an outlet store makes it easier to score designer pieces at lower prices, and she mixes those finds with thrifted items for a layered look.

Katie and Jeremy’s DIY spirit extends to the bathrooms. Katie renovated one bath for an impressively low cost, doing hands-on work like cutting tile and installing molding with minimal help.

Her dressing room is a standout: what might be a closet for most people is an entire bedroom filled with wardrobes, shelving, and a cozy daybed. It doubles as a lovely guest space and a perfectly organized dressing area.

Upstairs, they updated the guest bath with moody khaki paint and a custom wood frame around the original mirror. They distressed each piece of wood before staining and installing it, giving the bathroom a warm, handcrafted feel.

Their peaceful bedroom and ensuite echo some touches we’ve shared before. Katie mentioned that her curtained wall was inspired by a room we photographed, and the result feels both familiar and uniquely theirs.

Finally, we filmed a short table-setting video where we staged five different looks using Katie’s serving pieces and accessories. We set everything up in real time to show step-by-step options you can adapt for your own gatherings. A few notes about the clip:
- We start off a little nervous, but loosen up quickly.
- We get progressively more playful as we go.
- I mix up a couple of plant names and mispronounce faux-bois—embarrassing, but true.
- Katie adds her usual playful humor and friendly southern charm.
- Some settings are fuller than others; if you need more space for platters, skip a few elements or use a larger table.
Thanks for watching our little film. We had so much fun styling these spaces and sharing Katie and Jeremy’s impressive DIY transformations. A big thank-you to them for welcoming us into their home and letting us photograph and film their beautiful spaces.
If you want more table-setting inspiration, check out the video above and consider adapting any of the looks to suit your own table size and serving needs.
