Upcoming Projects from Young House Love

[ad_1]

Now that we’re settled at a new URL, many of you have asked what new features and projects we promised. There’s a lot on the horizon, so here’s a clear, updated look at what to expect from Young House Love in the coming months.

#1. A Young House Love Nursery: While we haven’t expanded our own family just yet, we do have a nursery reveal in the works. My sister Emily (you may remember her gorgeous home) is due in October and asked us to completely transform an empty bedroom into a cozy nursery. We’re excited to take on the makeover and share each step. The room already has character—a sliding track door on one side and a standard doorway on the other—so there are great architectural details to work with. We’ll share the before-and-after photos, the design choices, and practical tips for anyone planning a nursery makeover.

Is it strange that before photos make us giddy? Maybe, but that’s part of the fun. As for growing our own family, it isn’t an immediate plan, though it’s something we’re thinking about for the near future.

#2. Videos, Baby: We’ve ordered video equipment so we can capture projects and ideas more easily. Video will let us show processes in real time—painting techniques, room reveals, quick DIY tutorials—and give a more personal glimpse into projects as they unfold. We also have a small TV appearance coming up, which should be fun (and perhaps a little embarrassing), and we’ll share clips and highlights for anyone who misses it.

#3. Our House’s History: You’ve asked whether we’ve heard from our home’s original owners, and last week we did. The couple who lived here for nearly forty-five years contacted us after finding the blog through a friend, and they shared wonderful stories about the house’s past. We discovered some unexpected details and a few charming artifacts that link the home’s history to the present. We’ll be posting what we learned, along with photos of any discoveries—like those little treasures we once found under kitchen cabinets, including a childhood drawing from one of the former residents.

#4. The Usual Suspects: Expect more of the regular favorites: Reader Redesigns, Burning Questions, House Crashing adventures, Design Dilemmas, before-and-afters, and follow-up posts on projects we’ve completed (for example, updates on how a new bed is holding up or how our edible garden is faring). We’ll also continue sharing Fab Freebies and step-by-step tutorials such as hanging art or painting paneling. If you enjoy actionable, approachable projects, there’s plenty coming your way.

#5. Another Katie Bower Play Date: After our visit to Katie and Jeremy at All Bower Power—when we crashed their house and made a short video—you asked for more collaborations like that. We love teaming up with fellow DIYers, so we’ve already scheduled another meet-up to bring more fun, creative content from those visits.

#6. Some Bathroom & Basement Action: A lot of readers hoped our big announcement would involve an immediate basement or bathroom overhaul. While we can’t promise fully finished renovations right away, we are planning upgrades for both spaces. We’re saving up and laying out a realistic plan so when we do start, we can make meaningful progress. In the meantime we’ll share the plans, inspiration images, budgets, and timelines so you can follow along from concept to completion.

So that’s a snapshot of what’s cooking here at Young House Love. We’ll be posting new content, tutorials, and behind-the-scenes updates regularly—consider this an open suggestion box. What would you most like to see in the next few weeks or months? Tell us and we’ll do our best to cover it.

P.S. Don’t forget to update your bookmarks, feed reader, blogroll, and social links to the new URL so you don’t miss anything. We’d hate to lose any of you along the way.
