Day 6 is where your gear stops being “good enough” and starts being built to last.
You can mine iron for days, but without enchants you’ll always feel slow: tools break too fast, mining takes longer, and every expedition costs more repairs. Day 6 fixes that by building the core of long-term progress:
An Enchanting setup. Not just the table—an entire loop: books, shelves, lapis, and reliable XP.
In this guide you’ll learn exactly what to do on Day 6 to get enchanting online as early as possible, with a clear priority order so you don’t waste resources.
Day 6 Objectives ✅
- Craft an Enchanting Table (or set the full plan to craft it today)
- Secure a steady Lapis Lazuli supply for enchanting
- Start building toward Bookshelves (Level 30 enchanting goal)
- Create an easy XP routine you can repeat anytime
- Learn which early enchants are actually worth chasing
1) Why Enchanting Is a “Progress Multiplier” ✨
Enchanting doesn’t just make you stronger—it makes you faster.
- Efficiency = mining speed boost (massive time saver)
- Unbreaking = tools last longer (fewer replacements)
- Protection = fewer deaths (fewer lost items)
Day 6 mindset: you’re investing time now to save hours later. 😎
2) The Enchanting Table Recipe (What You Need) 🧱
To craft an Enchanting Table you need:
- Obsidian ×4
- Diamonds ×2 💎
- Book ×1 📘
If you don’t have diamonds yet, Day 6 can still be a “prep day” where you build everything else (books, shelves, lapis, XP routine) so the moment you find diamonds, you instantly unlock enchanting.
3) How to Get Obsidian Safely 🪣🔥
The safest early method is the classic:
- Bring a water bucket
- Find lava at lower levels
- Pour water to turn lava into obsidian
- Mine obsidian with a diamond pickaxe
Important: you need a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian. Don’t waste time trying with iron.
If you already have your water bucket from Day 4, you’re ahead. ✅
4) Bookshelves: The Real Goal (Level 30 Setup) 📚
An enchanting table alone gives weak enchants. The big power spike comes from bookshelves.
Target: 15 bookshelves to unlock Level 30 enchant options.
Bookshelf recipe
- Books ×3 + Wood planks ×6 = 1 Bookshelf
How many books do you need?
15 shelves × 3 books = 45 books.
And each book requires:
- Paper ×3 + Leather ×1
That means for a full Level 30 setup you’ll eventually want:
- Leather ×45 (cows are huge here 🐄)
- Paper ×135 (sugar cane is huge here 🌿)
Don’t panic. You don’t need all 15 shelves on Day 6. Start with 4–8 shelves and scale up.
5) Day 6 Must-Build: Sugar Cane Line (Paper Factory) 🌿
If your goal is enchanting and future villager trading, sugar cane is not optional.
Starter sugar cane farm (simple)
- Place water along a row
- Plant sugar cane on dirt/sand next to water
- Make it at least 20–40 long if you can
Harvest the top two blocks and let the bottom regrow.
6) Day 6 Must-Build: Cow Loop for Leather 🐄
If you followed Day 5, you already started cows. Now you upgrade the mindset:
- Keep a breeder pen (never kill your breeders)
- Use a grow-out pen for extra cows
- Harvest from the grow-out pen when needed
This is how you turn enchanting from “I hope I find books” into “I produce books.” ✅
7) Lapis Lazuli: The Fuel for Enchanting 🔵
Enchanting requires lapis. Your job today is to stop treating lapis like “random loot” and start treating it like a stored resource.
How to get lapis efficiently
- Mine at lower levels where lapis spawns more often
- Explore caves and strip-mine corridors (safe and steady)
- Always bring enough torches and a water bucket
Practical target: get at least 20–40 lapis so you can enchant without constantly running back to the mines.
8) Easy XP Routes (No Mob Farm Needed) ✨
You don’t need a fancy XP farm to start enchanting. Use these early routes:
A) Furnace XP Bank 🔥
- Smelt a large batch (iron, gold, food)
- Don’t collect XP every time
- Later, pull items out in one go to “cash out” XP
B) Mining XP ⛏️
- Coal and other ores give XP
- Branch mining gives consistent gains
C) Animal breeding XP 🐄
- Breeding animals gives small but steady XP
- It also supports your leather pipeline
Day 6 XP rule: pick one repeatable route and build the habit. That’s how enchanting becomes “available anytime.”
9) Best Early Enchants to Chase (Don’t Waste Levels) 🎯
Not all enchants are worth chasing early. Prioritize these:
- Pickaxe: Efficiency + Unbreaking (game-changers)
- Armor: Protection (simple and strong)
- Sword: Sharpness (clean damage boost)
Once you have a stable XP loop and bookshelves, you can start chasing more specialized enchants later.
10) Build Your Enchant Corner (Organization = Speed) 🧱
Create a dedicated “enchant station” near your base:
- Enchanting table spot (reserved)
- Lapis chest
- Paper/leather/book chest
- Anvil spot (when you can afford it)
Even before you place the table, the station structure makes your future upgrades instant.
11) Day 6 Checklist ✅
- [ ] Sugar cane planted and expanding (paper pipeline started)
- [ ] Cow breeding loop active (leather pipeline started)
- [ ] Lapis stock collected (20–40 goal)
- [ ] XP routine chosen (furnace bank or mining)
- [ ] Enchant corner created near base
- [ ] Enchant table crafted (if diamonds/obsidian are ready) or fully prepped
Wrap-Up: Day 6 Makes Everything Easier ✨
Day 6 is the “infrastructure day.” You’re not just enchanting once—you’re building the system that lets you enchant whenever you want.
